CHAPTER 200 AN ACT TO REVISE AND CONSOLIDATE THE PUBLIC SCHOOL LAW AND TO MAKE MORE EFFICIENT THE SYSTEM OF PUBLIC IN: STRUCTION IN THIS STATE. The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact :

It shall be the duty of the school committee of each district to take and return to the county superintendent of public instruction, on or before the first day of September in every year, a full and accurate census of the children between the ages of six and twenty-one, designating the race and sex. And the said committee shall also report to the said county superintendent the number of public school-houses and the value of all public school property for each race, separately.
