CHAPTER 155 An act to amend chapter one hundred and seventeen of the laws of one thousand eight hundred and eigty-three, relating to the New- bern Graded School. The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact: Section 1.-That section first of chapter one hundred and seventeen of the laws of one housand eight hun- dred and eighty-three be amended by striking out in. line three (3), at, the next regular election of coun- cilmen and inserting in lieu thereof the words at the regular election of councilmen on the first Moa- day in May, one thousand eight hundred and eighty- seven.

That the special taxes thus levied and collected shall be expended in keeping up separate graded schools for the white and colored children in said city of Newbern, between the ages of six and twenty-one years, and the schools for each race herein provided for shall have the same length of school terms.
