CHAPTER 62 An act to amend the charter of Elizabeth City, North Carolina. The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

By striking out section twenty-nine and inserting instead thereof the following: That the board of aldermen may require and compel the abatement and removal of all nuisances within the town at the expense of the person causing the same, or the owner or tenant of the ground, wherever the same may be. They may also prevent the establishment of, and regulate, if allowed to be established, any slaughter-house or place, or the exercise within the town of any offensive or unhealthy business, trade or employment.
