CHAPTER 325 An act to establish a graded school at Smithfield, Johnston County, North Carolina. The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

That the special taxes thus levied and collected from the taxable property and polls of white persons, shall be expended in maintaining and keeping up a graded public free school in said district for white persons of both sexes, whose names are on the school census list in said district, between the ages of six and twenty-one years; and the special tax thus levied and collected from the taxable property and polls of colored persons, shall be expended in maintaining and keeping up a graded public school in said district for colored persons of both sexes, whose names shall be on the school census list in said district, between the ages of six and twenty-one years.
