CHAPTER 278 AN ACT TO ESTABLISH GRADED SCHOOLS IN THE TOWN OF BEAUFORT, CARTERET COUNTY. The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

That the said board of trustees shall have the power to employ and fix the compensation of a superintendent for said graded schools and such teachers as are necessary, and to do all such other acts as may be necessary to carry on said schools. They shall have power at any time to remove said superintendent or any teacher, and to employ others in his or her stead.
