CHAPTER 141 AN ACT TO RATIFY CONVEYANCE OF CERTAIN LANDS BY MECKLENBURG COUNTY TO THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA FOR USE BY THE STATE HIGHWAY COMMISSION. THAT WHEREAS, the County of Mecklenburg has heretofore con- veyed certain lands lying in Crab Orchard Township, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, to the State of North Carolina, for the use of Charlotte College, now known as the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, by deed dated December 14, 1964, recorded in Book 2640, page 555, Mecklenburg County Registry; and WHEREAS, said deed provided for the reversion to the County of Mecklenburg of the lands conveyed, or any portion thereof, not used by Charlotte College for the purposes specified therein; and WHEREAS, said conveyance by the County of Mecklenburg to the State of North Carolina was ratified and confirmed by Chapter 251 of the Session Laws of 1965; and WHEREAS, a portion of said lands, containing 30.74 acres, more or less, is needed by the North Carolina Highway Commission for the con- struction of Interstate Highway No. 85; and 196 WHEREAS, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte has released its interest in said portion to the State Highway Commission and the State Highway Commission has paid to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte the fair market value thereof; and WHEREAS, the construction of Interstate Highway No. 85 will greatly benefit the City of Charlotte and the County of Mecklenburg; and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Mecklenburg County, by resolution passed on July 18, 1966, authorized the release of that portion of the lands needed by the State Highway Commission from operation of the reversionary clauses set forth in that deed recorded in Book 2640, page 555, Mecklenburg County Registry; and WHEREAS, Mecklenburg County, pursuant to said resolution, has caused to be executed and delivered to the State of North Carolina a deed of release dated September 16, 1966, recorded in Book 2810, page 531, Mecklenburg County Registry, conveying a said portion of the lands to the State of North Carolina, releasing said portion from operation of said reversionary clauses contained in that deed recorded in Book 2640, page 555, Mecklenburg County Registry: Now, therefore, The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

This Act shall become effective upon ratification. In the General Assembly read three times and ratified, this the 4th day of April, 1967 H. B. 264
