CHAPTER 184 AN ACT TO AMEND CHAPTER 36 OF THE PRIVATE LAWS OF 908, EXTRA SESSION, AND CHAPTER 770 OF THE SESSION LAWS OF 1963, TO PROVIDE FOUR-YEAR TERMS FOR OFFICIALS OF THE TOWN OF BAILEY. The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:
Section 4 of Chapter 36 of the Private Laws of 1908, Extra Session, as amended by Section 2 of Chapter 770 of the Session Laws of 1963, is hereby further amended by rewriting the same to read as follows: Sec. 4 (a) The government of the town shall be vested in a mayor and a board of five commissioners, elected for terms of four years, as hereinafter provided. (b) On Tuesday after the first Monday in May, 1967, and quadrennially thereafter, there shall be elected a mayor and three commissioners to serve for terms of four years, or until their successors are elected and qualified. (c) On Tuesday after the first Monday in May, 1969, and quadrennially thereafter, there shall be elected two commissioners to serve for terms of four years, or until their successors are elected and qualified. (d) Any vacancy in the office of mayor or commissioners shall be filled by the board of commissioners, or by the remaining members thereof, for the unexpired term.
