CHAPTER 237 AN ACT TO AMEND CHAPTER 282, SESSION LAWS OF 1965, AND CHAPTER 115, SESSION LAWS OF 1963, THE SAME BEING THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF LUMBERTON. The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:
Section 9(c) of Article III of Chapter 115, Session Laws of 1963, is amended by deleting the first sentence, and inserting in lieu thereof the following: The candidate for Mayor receiving the highest number of votes, shall be declared elected. The candidate for Councilman, from each ward or precinct, receiving the highest number of votes of the persons running from said ward or precinct, shall be declared elected.
