CHAPTER 261 AN ACT TO REORGANIZE AND MERGE THE ANSON COUNTY AD- MINISTRATIVE SCHOOL UNIT, THE WADESBORO CITY SCHOOL ADMINISTRATIVE UNIT AND THE MORVEN CITY SCHOOL AD- MINISTRATIVE UNIT INTO ONE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATIVE UNIT UNDER ONE BOARD OF EDUCATION FOR ALL THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN ANSON COUNTY. The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

All candidates for nomination and election as members of the Anson County Board of Education shall be residents and electors of Anson County and shall file a written notice with the Chairman of the Anson County Board of Elections stating their name, age and residence and in case there is more than one vacancy to be filled on said Board of Education the candidate shall state in said notice the particular vacancy for which he is a candidate, and in addition thereto the said notice shall be filed with the Chairman of the Anson County Board of Elections at least 30 days on or before the date of said primary. All candidates for election to membership to said Anson County Board of Education shall be voted on at large by the eligible voters and electors of Anson County, and in case there shall be more than one candidate then the candidates receiving the highest number of votes shall be nominated and elected, and there shall be no second primary. All vacancies on the first or initial Anson County Board of Education caused by death, resignation, removal or change of residence, removal from office or otherwise, shall be filled by the remaining members for the unexpired term of office but such appointments to fill vacancies on the first or initial Anson County Board of Education shall be filled or made by persons residing within the geographical area from which said initial appointments were made. All vacancies on the Anson County Board of Education composed of the elected members and caused by the reasons set forth above shall be filled by the remaining members of the Anson County Board of Education for the unexpired term. The members of the Anson County Board of Education, including the first or initial Board of Education as herein provided, shall be paid the sum of ten dollars ($10.00) 312 per day for each day of their official meetings for the transaction of official business.
