CHAPTER 387 AN ACT RELATING TO TEMPORARY QUARTERS FOR GOVERN- MENTAL AGENCIES OF LEE COUNTY, PENDING THE CON- STRUCTION OF A NEW, OR REPAIRS TO THE EXISTING, COURT- HOUSE. WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Lee County is contemplating substantial repairs to the existing courthouse or construc- tion of a new courthouse; and WHEREAS, it will be necessary to establish temporary quarters and acquire additional space for governmental functions of Lee County during the period of construction or repairs; and WHEREAS, this will necessitate securing temporary quarters for Lee County governmental purposes: Now, therefore, The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

The Board of County Commissioners of Lee County is hereby authorized to secure by lease or otherwise and provide necessary temporary space for any governmental purpose of Lee County, within said County, pending the construction of a new courthouse or repairs to the existing courthouse. Such quarters so provided may be designated by the Board of Commissioners as the Lee County Courthouse. It shall be lawful for the Board of County Commissioners to designate temporary quarters without designating such quarters as the Lee County Courthouse. It shall be lawful in the quarters so provided to hold sessions of court and any and all other hearings which are required to be heard at the County Courthouse. It shall be lawful to perform any of the governmental functions of Lee County in such temporary quarters, and the quarters so designated are not required to be located in a single building, but may be located in one or more buildings.
