CHAPTER 70 AN ACT TO ESTABLISH THE NORTH CAROLINA AMERICAN REVOLUTION BICENTENNIAL COMMISSION. WHEREAS, there is approaching the bicentennial of the American Revolution, in which North Carolina played a major and leading part that needs to be made better known both to our own citizens and to the nation at large, and WHEREAS, the experience of our own State and of other States of the Union has proven in the past that several years of advance planning and effort are required in order to make such a commemorative celebration fully successful, and WHEREAS, other States of the Union have already begun to take the necessary steps toward the suitable commemoration of this bicentennial, and WHEREAS, it has been established that such commemorations are very much worthwhile in making our people conscious of the importance of their heritage: Now, therefore, the General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:
The Commission shall make plans and develop programs for the celebration of the bicentennial of the American Revolution, and at the appropriate time or times shall conduct such celebration or series of celebrations.
