CHAPTER 95 AN ACT TO AMEND THE CHARTER OF THE TOWN OF HOOKERTON TO PROVIDE FOR THE POPULAR ELECTION OF MAYOR. The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

Chapter 218 of the Private Laws of 1907 is hereby amended by rewriting Section 8 thereof to read as follows: Sec. 8 In each regular biennial election, beginning in 1967, there shall be elected by the qualified voters of the Town at large a Mayor and four Commissioners to hold office for terms of two years or until their successors are elected and qualified. Town elections shall be conducted in accordance with the provisions of Article 3, Chapter 160, of the General Statutes. Any qualified voter of the Town who would offer himself as a candidate for Mayor or Commissioner shall file with the Town Clerk a statement giving notice of his candidacy. Such notice shall be signed and dated, and filed not later than five oclock p. m. on the third Friday preceding the election at which he offers himself, shall be accompanied by payment of a filing fee of ten dollars ($10.00), and shall be substantially in the following: fovins {Tj i) eel eee cet sete , do hereby give notice that I am a candidate for the office Of ………..ooooooceccecoc eee cece eee to be voted on at the election to be held on ._……….. ooo eeee eee , and I hereby request that my name be placed on the official ballot for such office.
