CHAPTER 40 AN ACT TO AMEND THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTE. The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact :

The registration books shall be closed ten days before the day of election, and, after the same are closed, no person shall be allowed to register, but the registrar shall on application before said books are closed register all persons not then qualified to vote in his ward who will become so qualified on or beforethe day of election. Immediately after said books are closed they shall be deposited in the office of the clerk and treasurer of the city, and citizens desiring so to do may inspect them, The city clerk and treasurer shall write in each of said registration books the exact time they are deposited with him, and the same shall not be taken from his office until the day of the election. Any registrar failing to deposit his registration book with the city treasurer at the time prescribed shall receive no compensation for making said registration.
