CHAPTER I. AN ACT TO AMEND AN ACT ENTITLED AN ACT FOR THE INCOR- PORATION OF THE TOWN OF WASHINGTON, RATIFIED THE EIGHTEENTH DAY OF JANUARY, ONE THOUSAND EIGHT HUN- DRED AND FORTY-SEVEN.
Zhe General Assembly of North Carolina do enact, That on the fourth Monday in January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-one, and annually on the fourth Monday in January of each and every year thereafter, there shall be elected by the qualified voters of the town of Washington, six commissioners, who shall elect one of their number to be intendant of police for said town, and the said commissioners and intendant shall have the same powers and authority as are now vested in the board of commissioners, except so far as the same are modified or abridged by this act.
