CHAPTER CCLXXIV. AN ACT TO ESTABLISH A DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE, IM- MIGRATION AND STATISTICS, AND FOR THE ENCOURAGEMENT OF SHEEP HUSBANDRY.

That no manipulated guanos, superphosphate or other commercial fertilizer shall be sold, or offered for sale in this state, until the manufacturer, or person importing the same, shall first cbtain a license therefor from the treasurer of the state, for which shall be paid a privilege tax of five hundred dollars per annum, for each separate brand or quality, and he shall also pay a tax of fifty cents per ton for every ton sold. Any person, cor: poration or company, who shall violate the provisions of this act, or who shall sell or offer for sale any such fertilizer contrary to the provisions above set forth, shail be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be fined and imprisoned at the discretion of the court.
