CHAPTER 238 An act to amend the charter of the town of High Point. The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

That all proceedings in the mayors court shall be the same as are now or hereafter shall be prescribed for courts of justices of the peace, and in all cases there shall be a right of appeal to the superior court of the county of Guilford. That whenever a defendant or witness or other person shall be adjudged to be imprisoned by the said court, it shall be competent for the said court to sentence such persons to imprisonment in the county jail for a term not exceeding thirty days and to adjudge also that such persons work during the period of their confinement in the public streets or on the public works of the city.
