CHAPTER 243 An act to amend the charter of the city of Raleigh. The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact :

That the treasurer shall have a reasonable salary, and it shall be his duty to call on all persons who may have in their hands any moneys or securities belonging to the city which ought to be paid or delivered into the treasury, and to safely keep the same for the use of the city; to disburse the funds according to such orders as may be duly drawn on him in the manner hereinafter specified ; he shall keep in a book provided for that purpose a fair and correct account of all moneys received and disbursed by him, and shall submit said account to the aldermen whenever required to do so; on the expiration of his term of office he shall deliver to his successor all the moneys, securities and other property entrusted to him for safe-keeping or otherwise, and during his continuance therein he shall faithfully perform all duties lawfully imposed upon him as city treasurer.
