CHAPTER 382 AN ACT TO ESTABLISH GRADED SCHOOLS IN CROSS CREEK TOWNSHIP, CUMBERLAND COUNTY, AND TO ISSUE BONDS AND TO LEVY A SPECIAL TAX FOR THE ESTABLISHING AND SUPPORT OF SAME. The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

That the Board of Trustees created under the provisions of this act, shall elect annually on the first Tuesday in June of each year, a Superintendent of schools established under this act, and the said Superintendent shall examine all applicants for teachers positions in said schools, issue certificates to such as are competent, and no person shall be elected a teacher in said schools who does not have a certificate from the Superintendent of said schools: Provided, that this shall exempt no teacher from examination by the County Superintendent of said county. Said Superintendent shall also act as Secretary of said Board of Trustees, and do and perform such other duties as may be prescribed by the Board of Trustees.
