CHAPTER 258 AN ACT TO AMEND AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE ASSESS- MENT OF PROPERTY AND COLLECTION OF TAXES. The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact: That chapter five hundred and ninety of the Public Laws of one thousand nine hundred and five be amended so as hereafter to read as follows: ARTICLE I. BoarRD OF STATE TAX COMMISSIONERS.

All taxes received shall be paid to State Treasurer within ten days after the first of following month. All city, county or State officers authorized to collect or receive taxes or license fees for the State shall make return of the same on the first of every month to the Auditor and within ten days thereafter pay the amount mentioned in said return to the State Treasurer, and further it shall be the duty of the State Treasurer | to immediately notify the State Auditor of any failure upon the part of any official to account as aforesaid. Any officer violating this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.
