CHAPTER 493 AN ACT TO EXEMPT PASQUOTANK COUNTY FROM THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE EIGHT OF CHAPTER SIXTY- SIX, VOLUME THREE, OF THE CONSOLIDATED STAT- UTES, KNOWN AS THE TURLINGTON ACT, AND TO SET UP AN ALCOHOLIC CONTROL BOARD FOR THE COUNTY OF PASQUOTANK. The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

Managers and/or employees of county stores may in their discretion refuse to sell alcoholic beverages to individual applicants; and may refuse to sell to any one purchaser an amount in excess of one quart in any one day, regardless of the amount applied for. Manufacture, possession for sale, or sale of illicit liquors is hereby prohibited and such manufacture, possession for sale, or sale shall constitute a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine of not more than five thousand dollars or imprisonment for not more than two years, or both. Violation of the administrative features of this act by any store manager or employee shall constitute a misdemeanor, subject to dismissal from service and may be punished by the court as a misdemeanor. If any person shall take a drink of alcoholic beverages or shall tender such a drink, whether accepted or not, at the place of purchase, or on any public road or street, he shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.
