CHAPTER 261 AN ACT TO REORGANIZE AND MERGE THE ANSON COUNTY AD- MINISTRATIVE SCHOOL UNIT, THE WADESBORO CITY SCHOOL ADMINISTRATIVE UNIT AND THE MORVEN CITY SCHOOL AD- MINISTRATIVE UNIT INTO ONE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATIVE UNIT UNDER ONE BOARD OF EDUCATION FOR ALL THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN ANSON COUNTY. The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

At the primary and general election to be held in Anson County in the year 1970, there shall be nominated and elected three members of 311 said Anson County Board of Education whose terms of office shall be for six years. The nomination and election of said members shall be at the same time and in the same manner as candidates are nominated and elected for county officers and shall be governed by the applicable provisions of Chapter 163 of the General Statutes, as amended, pertaining to primaries and elections for county officers. At the primary and general election to be held for the nomination and election of county officers for the year 1972, there shall be nominated and elected three members of the Anson County Board of Education whose terms of office shall be for six years, and at the primary and general election for county officers of Anson County to be held in the year 1974, there shall be nominated and elected one member of the Anson County Board of Education whose term of office shall be for six years. All candidates elected to membership on the Anson County Board of Education shall qualify by taking the oath of office on or about the first Monday in December following their election and their term of office shall become effective with the date of their qualification. All candidates elected to membership on the Anson County Board of Education shall hold their offices until their successors are elected and qualified. Thereafter, as vacancies occur in the office or offices of the members of the Anson County Board of Education by reason of the expiration of terms of office, there shall be nominated and elected the required number of members of said Board of Education for the purpose of filling said vacancies, and all successors in said office or offices shall be nominated and elected for terms of office of six years each.
