CHAPTER 6 AN ACT TO APPORTION THE NORTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRE- SENTATIVES IN THE EVENT THE UNITED STATES CONSTITU- TION IS AMENDED TO PERMIT REPRESENTATION OTHER THAN BY POPULATION IN ONE HOUSE OF A BICAMERAL LEGISLATURE. The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

In the event the Constitution of the United States is amended to permit representation in one house of bicameral legislatures of the several states on some basis other than population, the membership of the North Carolina House of Representatives shall automatically be and the same is re-established as provided in G. S. 120-2, as the same appears in the 1964 Replacement Volume 3B of the General Statutes of North Carolina, when approved by the voters of the State if approval is required by such amendment, and the members shall be elected at the next primary and general election held more than ten months immediately 23 following the adoption of the constitutional amendment, and biennially thereafter, as provided in Chapter 163-1964 Replacement Volume 3D of the General Statutes of North Carolina.
