CHAPTER CXXIII. AN AC? TO AMEND THE CHARTER OF THE TOWN OF EDENTON. Wuernras, It is the interest of every state to regulate the police of its towns and encourage their trade, and the laws heretofore made for regulating the town of Edenton have, in many instances, proved detective and inconvenient :

Persons aiding at fires: That all persons aiding in the extinguishment of any fire in the said town, while so engaged shall act under the direction of the tire wardens or ofticers of the fire company, under penalty of five dollars or imprisonment for not more than ten days for every neglect or refusal so to act, subject also to provisions of section 21
