CHAPTER 62 An act to amend the charter of Elizabeth City, North Carolina. The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

By striking out section forty-eight and inserting instead thereof the following: All able bodied inale persons residing within the corporate limits, between the ages of twentyone and forty-five years, shall be liable to contribute or work upon the streets or public improvements of the corporation for two days in each year, or to pay the sum of one dollar per day, and any person after being duly notified by the mayor, and refusing to work, shall be fined not exceeding tive Coilars.
