CHAPTER 763 An act to compel attendance in the public schools in Mitchell County. The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

That all the children between the ages of eight and sixteen years, residing in the county of Mitchell, shall be compelled to attend the free schools of the county during the term of free schools of each year: Provided, that they are not educated by other means, for a period equal to the public school term in their respective district or are not physically or mentally unable to attend same.
