CHAPTER 718 AN ACT TO ESTABLISH A GRADED SCHOOL IN THE TOWN OF COLUMBIA, The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

That the said board of trustees shall provide suitable building or buildings for conducting the said school, either by erecting or leasing same, as they may from time to time deem it best for the interest of the school. The said trustees shall have the right to engage, employ, pay and discharge teachers at any time, fix the amount of their compensation and salaries and have general oversight and control of said school, the concurrence of at least four of their number being necessary to decide all points of interest or dispute.
