CHAPTER 68 AN ACT TO REPEAL ITS PRESENT CHARTER AND LAWS IN CONFLICT WITH THIS ACT, AND TO INCORPORATE THE CITY OF HICKORY. The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact: ARTICLE I. NAME AND RIGHTS.

That after being duly sworn by the mayor or a justice of the peace to conduct the election fairly, impartially, and according to law, the registrar and judges of election shall open the polls, receive and deposit the ballots in the boxes provided for that purpose, administer oaths, decide all challenges on the day of the primary, general or special municipal election then being held, superintend and conduct the primary or election in like manner and during the same hours as elections for members of the General Assembly of North Carolina are conducted.
