CHAPTER 382 AN ACT TO AMEND G. S. 153-246 SO AS TO MAKE IT CLEAR THAT FORSYTH COUNTY AND THE CITY OF WINSTON-SALEM MAY ENTER INTO JOINT PURCHASING AGREEMENTS WITHOUT CONSOLIDATING THEIR PURCHASING DEPARTMENTS. The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:
That G. S. 153-246 be amended by adding a paragraph at the end thereof to read as follows: In addition to the authority granted herein for counties, and for cities and counties, to enter into joint administrative functions and activities through consolidated agencies, Forsyth County and the City of WinstonSalem are hereby expressly authorized to enter into agreements for the joint purchasing of goods, supplies, materials, and services, with or without consolidating their purchasing departments. The Board of Commissioners of Forsyth County and the Board of Aldermen of the City of WinstonSalem are authorized to adopt a resolution setting out the manner in which this authority is to be exercised, and the procedures to be followed in carrying out such joint purchasing arrangements. Said resolution may provide that the joint purchasing arrangements and practice will continue until revoked by either board.
